According to the BBC Woman's Hour programme on Saturday 40% of ladies have a vibrator does this seem right? I guess 40% of ladies on PV do, probably more like 100%. The discussion was also about the fact that women don't talk to each other about masturbation, is this true? Not bad for an open air discussion at 16:00 hours.

40% just sounds ridiculous to me. I think it's fair to say most women masturbate. So why wouldn't they want to get the most pleasure possible. These days you don't have to go to a sleazy sex shop to get a vibrator. You can order it on line. And it comes to your door in a plain brown box. And I also know it's not just something women use alone. Many couples like to use vibrators and toys during fore play. I know I never met a woman that didn't enjoy a vibrator inside her while I licked her clit. So with all that said I think 75% - 80% might be a little closer to the truth.
