Clouds gather, winds pick up, lightning flashes and the roar of thunder fills the air. Lost, without oars, being tossed by an angry seas. What is there? What is left?..........nothing, hopelessness. Then in those flashes of light, a refuge, a safe haven. So desperate for it, the rudderless boat is abandoned and swimming, thrashing to keep afloat, crawling towards the shore.

Awakened, bright light, warmth, solid ground. The sounds soothes, birds, gentle breeze, and the quiet hush of the water lapping gently on the beach. You have survived! You have made it to safety, and the calm overcomes you and you feel peace and drift off again in quiet slumber.

Awakened once again, this time refreshed, renewed, and you get up and look around. You find yourself on a beach, surrounded with others like you, and you are welcomed. Handed a drink, a smile, and instant friendship. And there is laughter.

Each day this continues and each day you find more and more people arriving, just the way you did and you see them get renewed, refreshed. Where is this place, what is this place, why even ask, just relax and enjoy each day, the warmth, the sun shining on the beach.

Then it happens, the clouds, the wind, the rain all combining, threatening. You look one to another, you see the panic, the fear, the anger, the resentment....the paradise, the isolated island is being taken over by darkness. The seas rise and fall and with every crash of the waves, a little bit of this safe harbor is being washed away. Washed out to sea, never to be seen again. Solid cliffs tumble, crashing down, and the sound, the sound, is deafening. The cries, the wails are soon replaced by the angry shouts, each one climbing, crawling over another, trying to reach higher ground and safety.

But no one realizes, no one can see, we are all in this together, what happens to one will surely happen to another, and if we join together, link arms, help one another, we will as a group, be an anchor for one, and they in turn for another. And we will all weather the storms and the sun will shine again on our peaceful place in the sun.
