As I was sitting in a waiting room I noticed a Rolling stone magazine were they listed the 100 greatest guitarist of all time. As you can guess they had Jimi Hendrix as #1 (which I disagree with) But what I really couldn't believe was they forgot about 3 of the best in the business.

Eric Johnson
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani

It's just unbelievable that they didn't even make the list, But if your listing guitarist for pure talent then Joe Satriani should have been #1 No disrespect to Jimi Hendrix or what he did in his time....It's just that Joe Satriani is simply the greatest guitarist of all time

Yeah, I saw that "list" too. Those kinds of lists are so subjective anyway, and you're right, they omitted a bunch of noteworthy players. But most of these things are popularity contests, and as we know, the best players aren't always the ones who get the most exposure.
(And I stopped really reading Rolling Stone and their pretentious music journalists/posers a long time ago, for this very reason).

Hangin all those you brought up did make the list. I agree that all have talent. Especially Stevie Ray Vaughan...I think it's totally amazing that he could play "Texas flood" behind his back.

Yeah Txsweet B B King was listed. If anyone else is curious to who is on the list and how they are ranked you can find RollingStones list on line. Just search for RollingStone 100 greatest guitarist.

On that note I know many of you don't have a clue to who Joe Satriani is and don't understand why I named him as the greatest. If you love guitar then while your searching look him up. I know he has video for both Satch Boogie and Always with me always with you.....Also look up Flying in a blue dream and Big bad moon.

The only other thing I can tell you is turn it up and be prepared for your jaw to hit the floor.

It makes me wonder what are they using for a measuring stick to come up with this list??? I think you were right by saying it's a popularity contest and has nothing to do with talent.

It would have been nice if at least one person would have looked up the Joe Satriani videos I pointed out and then replied back with there opinion...But it's your lost.
