why do some of the profile pics (mine included) look like they've been stretched sideways - I'm tall &% slim but look a bit like a 5 foot weightlifter!

if you reduce the size of the picture you upload it will sort this problem

I also believe the profile pic is a square pic. If you upload a pic that is 640x480, it will stretch it to fit the box, causing the distortion you refer to. Crop your pic to 480x480 and the problem is solved. I could be wrong, but I think the profile pic is 150x150, so don't resize to anything smaller than that.
